C. Questions on the Design of Content
When we are analyzing and/or creating propaganda posters for World War 2, we should be asking the following questions to guide us: • For whom is this poster intended? (target audience) • How does the designer want us to feel? How does he achieve this? • What is the poster trying to get the audience to do? (intended message) • Who created the poster? • What is the theme of the poster? • What symbols, key words or well known images are used? • Is the use of the symbol/image/word successful? • What is the emotion conveyed by the poster? • How would you change the image to make it more powerful? • What type of propaganda does the poster use? • How successful do you think this poster was during WWII? • Would a similar image have the same impact in today’s society? Why or why not? Task: Look at the poster posted on the right. Answer the 12 questions on content design (from above) using this poster. After, choose another poster (either from our lesson or from searching on the internet) and analyze that poster using the same 11 questions. |
