B. Assessment
There will be a two-stage process for marking.
Stage 1: Peer Blog Feedback = 50% of mark
- All students in the class will be required to give feedback by writing each other in the Weebly Blog page. In your blog, write down the names of the students you are assessing.
- Projects will be marked on A 10 point scale, 10 being rated "excellent".
Points to consider:
- Did the team accurately analyze each cartoon correctly? Did they catch all the inneundos or jokes, and identify all the historical figures or events mentioned in each cartoon?
- Did the team accurately convey the intended message of each cartoon?
- Did the team verbally communicate in a strong manner during the class presentation? Loud, clear voice? Use of voice to get message across? Animated, excited? Voice inflections, not just just monotone?
- Was the slideshow created with attention to design and detail? Text on slides accurate and concise...not too wordy? Pictures or quotes used to move the story forward and add to understanding of the topic?
- Was the team able to demonstrate to the class, the ability to carefully analyze each cartoon in a way that showed deep understanding of how propaganda was used heavily in WWII?
Stage 2: Teacher Feedback = 50% of mark
The teacher will also provide feedback using the Weebly Blog for marks on this project. On top of all the points mentioned above, the teacher will be assessing the ability of the teams' abilities to cooperate, share the workload, and to teach each other about the role of propaganda during WWII.

C. Verifications
To verify that students understand how propaganda techniques were used in WWII propaganda cartoons, and also continue to build skills in the higher level skill of analyzing content, students will be given a task to complete in the WWII unit test to be held at the end of the WWII unit.
Students will be shown a new WWII cartoon not seen in class before. Students will analyze the cartoon as detailed as possible by breaking down segments of the cartoon and explaining the meaning, the symbolism, historical figures or events mentioned, and most importantly, defining the main message of the cartoon, and also putting the cartoon into its correct historical context. The better the student analyzes the cartoon correctly, the more details they can identify and describe, the higher the mark will be assigned.
